1978 Teddy Pendergrass Tee Shirt Concert World Tour
1978 Teddy Pendergrass Tee Shirt Concert World Tour
Teddy Pendergrass initially rose to musical fame as the lead singer of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. After leaving the group over monetary disputes in 1976, Pendergrass launched a successful solo career under the Philadelphia International label, releasing five consecutive platinum albums, then a record for an African-American R&B artist. Pendergrass’s career was suspended after a March 1982 car crash that left him paralyzed from the chest down. Pendergrass continued his successful solo career until announcing his retirement in 2007. Pendergrass died from respiratory failure in January 2010.
Presented is an original concert tour tee shirt from the Teddy World Tour 1978. The tan shirt is vintage and measures 14″ across the chest and the 23″ from top of collar seam to bottom. Vintage tagging is Sportique M. Nice design on front of a “Teddy Bear” with arms crossed with an image of a bow tie. There’s no design on back.
This lot is from the T-Shirt collection from the estate of Chuck Landis (aka Largo) veteran promoter, concert best known as co-founder of the Roxy West Hollywood rock club in the early 1970’s and in 1980. Many of the T-Shirts come from performances that were at the venue. They have been locked away for many until now.
