This auction is for a beautiful, high grade, historic, and desirable 1947 BROOKLYN DODGERS YEARBOOK "BASEBALL's BELOVED BUMS". All original vintage early Dodger Yearbook with excellent content.
Includes rookie Jackie Robinson profile and photo insert
, and new manager Burt Shotton profile (who had replace Leo Durocher after Commisioner Chandler suspended him for the 1947 season for "association with known gamblers"). This is the famous yearbook issued for the Dodgers written by sportscaster Joe Hasel. The start for the "Boys of Summer" in Brooklyn. Loaded with photos, profiles, and career records of the players and team history. Loaded with photos, there are spreads for stars Carl Furillo, Pee Wee Reese, Hugh Casey, Pete Reiser, Ed Stanky, Series Star Cookie Lavagetto, Dixie Walker, Kirby Higbe and others. Summary of 1946 team highlights and player profiles. 1941 Champs photos. Oversize 9 x 12 inch format, huge 80 pages plus covers. Managed by Shotten, the Dodgers finished 1st at 94-60, and drew a Brooklyn record 1,807,526.
